At eastbrooke homes, we’re not just building homes for people, we’re building a bat-friendly community too!
The innovative bat mitigation project is creating safe havens for these amazing creatures, making them some of the first residents of the new neighbourhood.
The team have built a large wooden “bat house” and even repurposed Pond Cottage, creating the perfect “voids” these special brown long-eared bats need. Plus, we’ve installed bat boxes throughout the development, welcoming Soprano pipistrelles too.
But why all the fuss about bats? Well, they’re much more than meets the eye! Bats are crucial to our ecosystem, acting as natural pest controllers by munching on insects that can damage crops and spread disease. They also play a vital role in pollinating plants and dispersing seeds, keeping the whole environment healthy and thriving.
This project shows that communities and nature can co-exist and even benefit from each other. We’re excited to see our bat population flourish and be a part of the One Horton Heath development.
