We’re celebrating National Fitness Day by exploring local active living options
The 24th March marks National Fitness Day, an annual campaign by ukactive to encourage more people to explore the exercise opportunities available to them for a healthier lifestyle. We want to take this opportunity to highlight some fantastic fitness options for future residents of The Lower Acre in Horton Heath.
Watch a short breakdown of the local active opportunities here:
Running, Walking, and Cycling Routes
The Avenue, the main road connecting One Horton Heath, features a wide shared cycle and footway along its 2.1-mile stretch. Improvements to surrounding bridleways, footpaths, and roads have made it easier than ever to plan your running route around One Horton Heath. This route allows you to enjoy the undeveloped green spaces and access future developments, including the new local centre and sports fields.
Hedge End Leisure
In nearby Hedge End, the Wildern Leisure Centre offers two swimming pools, a recently refurbished gym, and a netball court. Wildern is partnered with Deer Park Sports Centre, a newer facility that features tennis courts, a hockey pitch, and a 3G football pitch. Both centres also host a variety of exercise classes.
Eastleigh Facilities
Alternatively, you can head into Eastleigh town, where there is a 24-hour Anytime Fitness located in the Swan Centre shopping complex. This state-of-the-art gym is equipped with a wide array of training and cardio equipment and is conveniently situated in the town centre.
For those who are keen swimmers, Places Leisure offers a large 25-meter pool as well as a 20-meter learner’s pool. Additionally, this facility includes a well-equipped gym, football pitches, tennis courts, and squash courts.
Get Involved!
We hope this encourages you to explore the fabulous local options available on this National Fitness Day. With all these facilities right at your doorstep, active living begins at The Lower Acre.
