One of the many advantages of life at The Lower Acre is how easily you can enjoy the best of the surrounding area. Horton Heath may offer the calm of village living, but it is also perfectly placed for a busy calendar of summer activities, with parks, festivals, live music and family-friendly days out all close by. Nature adventures at Itchen Valley Country Park.

Just over five minutes from The Lower Acre, Itchen Valley Country Park is a brilliant summer destination for families who want fresh air, open space and activities with an educational twist. The Nature Guardian Quest runs until 27 August 2026, inviting children aged 7+ to complete four discovery tasks across the school holidays. It is designed to encourage young explorers to get creative, learn about the natural world and make the most of the park’s woodland setting.

There are also Nature Guardian Craft workshops throughout the summer. For younger wildlife fans, Wild Wednesdays offer guided minibeast hunts, giving children the chance to search for bugs and learn more about meadow habitats.

Itchen Valley is not just for children. On Friday 7 August, the Frontier Sapiens Pop-Up Cinema brings an open-air evening of adventure, culture and environmental documentaries to the park, creating a memorable night out under the summer sky.

With events and activities taking place throughout the year, the park is a great local spot worth returning to time and again. Emma from the eastbrooke homes team recently visited for a live music event. You can watch her vlog here:
